MEGALO TRAVEL
The flight from Sofia to Rome takes an average of 1 hour and 50 minutes. Direct flights are operated by Wizz Air and Ryanair. On an organized excursion with Megalo Travel, the transfer from the airport to the city center hotel is included in the package price.
All organized excursions and lectures are conducted exclusively in Bulgarian by local licensed guides. Throughout the stay, a Bulgarian tour leader travels with the group to provide full assistance in the Bulgarian language.
For tourists, it is most practical to stay in the area around Termini Station (Central Rome). This is a communicative hub from which both metro lines start, and the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain are within walking distance. Our hotels from the Seb Raeli chain are located exactly in this strategic zone.
According to the regulations of the municipality of Rome, the city tax for 4-star hotels is between 4.50 and 6.00 euros per person per night. This tax is a mandatory local tax payable personally by tourists at the hotel reception upon departure.
Lines at the Vatican can take hours. The best way is through a group visit with a licensed guide and a pre-booked time slot. Our program includes a visit to St. Peter's Basilica with a local guide in Bulgarian, which saves you time and provides you with complete historical information.
Prices vary, but an average lunch in Rome costs between 15 and 25 euros. For the most authentic food, we recommend the Trastevere district, famous for its narrow streets and excellent trattorias. Do not miss the classic "Carbonara" pasta, which is the culinary icon of Rome.
A single ticket costs 1.50 euros and is valid for 100 minutes. There are passes for 24 hours (7 euros) and 72 hours (18 euros). Since our hotel is in the center, most sights are accessible on foot, but the metro is an excellent option for further points like the Vatican.
Ostia Antica is the ancient port of Rome and offers excellently preserved mosaics, an ancient theater, and shops. It is a calmer and more accessible alternative to Pompeii and is included as a special highlight in our travel program.
When visiting the Vatican and the major basilicas, a conservative dress code is required – shoulders and knees must be covered. This applies to both women and men. Otherwise, entry to the site may be refused.
The Termini area is extremely busy and safe during the day due to the increased presence of law enforcement. As in any major city, care should be taken with personal belongings in public places. Our hotels are located on well-lit and busy streets.
